Recommended Programs in Western Town College

This is a pathway program designed for students who want to enter colleges/universities in Canada or the U.S. Students will study academic English to develop integrated English skills (reading, writing, speaking, listening). Students learn how to write university essays, summarize articles, do academic research and do oral presentations. If students successfully complete 3 modules (12 weeks) of the program, they can be accepted by our affiliated colleges without further English Proficiency Test scores (TOEFL, IELTS, etc). Students who want to apply for a degree program need to complete 4 modules (16 weeks) of the program.
In our morning classes, students learn fundamental grammar points and integrated skills necessary to communicate in English. Our ESL classes include 7 levels. ESL Levels 1 to 6 focus on general English grammar with integrated skills. In Level 7, students study more specific subjects such as University Preparation Program, Power Talk Master, Advanced Speaking Programs, and IELTS Preparation Program.
Power Talk Master is an advanced speaking diploma course designed to improve students confidence, fluency and accuracy in both informal and professional speaking. Every mistake is corrected. PTM is a class for students who wish to challenge themselves to reach beyond self-limiting beliefs about themselves, their societies and the world. It is a question-centered class where students develop their critical thinking skills and apply them to the pressing issues facing many of us today.
In this class; students will focus on improving their communication skills along with listening and writing. Student will learn how to develop their opinions more logically and present them more clearly. The focus of the class is on improving speaking, listening and pronunciation through a variety of techniques and activities, including a combination of discussions, presentations, and essays. The class has a student-centric focus that allows students to grow into the language with the opportunity to share new ideas in a supportive environment. This class is designed for those who are committed to working hard to improve their speaking skills.
In EET, English Enhancement Training, students will focus on making fewer mistakes, speaking and writing with confidence, and generally moving their English from good to great. Student mistakes will be examined in order to better prevent repeating them in the future, and students will gain confidence through a variety of activities such as small and large group conversations, presentations, and even leading their own discussions.
The IELTS Preparation Program is designed for those who are aiming at achieving a specific IELTS band score, which allows them to go to most universities and colleges in Canada and the United States. This program prepares you for all four IELTS skills, including listening, reading, writing, and speaking. With a focus on both improving academic English skills and test-taking techniques, the teacher will focus on Listening, Reading and Writing skills in the morning and Speaking skills in the afternoon, and you will find yourself benefiting this systematic approach to each skill.

I strongly recommend this school to international students who want to improve speaking skills. I took Power Talk Master class. Teacher Lawrence was amazing, and I really enjoyed that class. I also had enough chances to speak English, and I could feel that I have improved my speaking level. If I have more time to stay in Toronto, I would like to take this class again!
