Canada immigration 2021 rate has altered dramatically since the beginning of the year. With 24,680 applications received in January, Canada received a higher number of immigrants in January. In February and March, however, this number plummeted dramatically to 23,395 and 22,425, respectively. In May, with 17,100 immigrants, Canada immigration 2021 witnessed the lowest number in the first six months.
Canada had its busiest month for new permanent residence arrivals during the epidemic in June 2021, with over 35,000 newcomers. It clearly shows that this statistic is much greater than recent month totals. It can be seen as a good sign for those who are dreaming about moving to Canada as the Government of Canada is predicted to apply more of its immigration stream for the July to December period to open and create more favorable conditions for applicants to meet the objective for 2021.
1. How government achieve its new immigrant's target
As announced, Canada aims to welcome 401,000 immigrants in 2021, 411,000 in 2022, and 421,000 in 2023. This is a significant amount at a time when the Covid-19 outbreak is still going strong and undergoing numerous modifications. Before the disease outbreak, the goal rate of entrants was only 341,000 people. Each month, between 25,000 and 35,000 individuals came to Canada during this time. More newcomers arrive during favorable weather conditions, leading up to the start of the academic and business calendar in September, therefore immigration numbers are greater throughout the summer months.
At the current rate of the immigrant population, Canada will struggle to fulfill its 2021 target. However, with an increase in the number of immigrants as of June, Canada immigration 2021 still has the optimism to exceed the goal by the end of the year with its new permanent residency streams.
2. How Covid-19 opened up opportunities for immigration candidates
According to recent reports, Canada has established an open policy that allows those with confirmed permanent residence (CORP) to move to the country. Additionally, Canada introduced six new permanent residency streams, allowing 90,000 international graduates and employees in essential sectors to remain in the country.
Moreover, as part of Canada’s immigration open policy, the IRCC has broken several Express Entry records this year to provide priority to candidates in the Canada Express Entry (CEC) stream. The fact that IRCC welcomed candidates with a score of at least 75 on February 13, 2021, is proof of this.
Express Entry invitation increased
With more open immigration laws, the Canadian government is expanding opportunities for applicants in more forms, not just by lowering cut-off points to record lows, but also by raising draw sizes. IRCC has issued 100,000 Express Entry invitations in the first six months of 2021, nearly double the number of invitations issued at the same time in 2020. This demonstrates that, despite the fact that Covid – 19 has posed numerous challenges in assisting the Canadian government in meeting its 2021 immigration target, particularly the restriction of flights from India, the country’s primary source of new arrivals, it has also provided an opportunity to applicants with lower scores are promoted to the next level.
The government is likely to continue open Canada immigration policies in the last months of 2021 to maintain a stable high level of immigration in order to meet the 2021 goal. Opening up a whole range of immigration options for international students and international workers, the Canadian government allows them to accomplish their dream of obtaining permanent residency in Canada.
