1. What is an open work permit?
A new open work permit operates as an open work permit for bridging without any job requirement. As a result, no LMIA or verification of a job offer from an employer via the employer portal is required.
2. How to qualify for OWP?
Applicants must prove that they are qualified for the one-time open working permit:
- have applied through the new permanent residence pathways;
- were authorized to work at the time of their application;
- hold a valid work permit that the expiration date is within the next four months;
- have temporary residence status, maintained status, or are eligible to restore their status at the time their open work permit application is submitted;
- are in Canada
- have a job in any occupation at the time they submit their PR application; and
